Creep-Feed, Surface and Gear Grinding Nozzle Systems
Our Creep Feed nozzles are based on 1.125”x 0.075” wide flat swivel nozzles with a 1.25” pitch in a common chamber with either 3/4” (34F) or 1” (44F) NPT female thread for the inlet hose, depending of number of nozzles being fed. Round nozzles can also be fitted. Nozzles can be rotated and swivelled in order to aim them at the areas of high grinding energy, then locked with a knurled knob. Nozzles can be removed easily and balls inserted to block holes. A Laser aiming system can be supplied to make adjustment easier. Larger nozzle aperture, such as 0.095" and 0.125" are also available. Surface Grinding nozzles and chambers are smaller than their creep-feed cousins and also based on a smaller swivel size. Standard nozzle aperture is 0.88" x 0.05", which covers 1" wheel width increment. Round nozzles can also be fitted. Chambers up to 4 nozzles wide are available. Nozzles are easily removed and sealed with a ball. Plunger versions are also available to switch off unwanted nozzles when narrower wheels are used. Inlet threads are 3/4" NPT female thread. The Gear Grinding nozzle can supply either an angled 0.88” flat jet (or 0.187" round nozzle) each side of a narrow gear grinding wheel or as a pair can supply two 0.88” jets on each side of a wider wheel. The system can be supplied with adapters ($50) to suit a Gleason Pfauter machine, but is typically attached to a 1/2” NPT male thread for use on any gear grinder. Single-jet and triple-jet versions are also available for very narrow or wide gear grinding wheels. Cool-Grind supplies manifold based nozzles for all gear grinders. Please contact Cool-Grind with your requirements. Fitting your creep-feed or surface grinding nozzle to the wheel guard is often difficult to do. When conventional grinding wheels are used, the nozzle has to be raised as the wheel gets smaller due to dressing. Cool-Grind can supply adjustable mountings that are either manually lifted and clamped, or adjusted using a rack-and-pinion mechanism and clamped.
